Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) announces more recalls.

Subaru will recall a combined 17,526 units of four models in Australia, according to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC). Of this total, Subaru will recall 1,941 units of the Forester and WRX over potentially faulty air intake ducts that may develop cracks, and 15,585 units of the Liberty and Outback over a fault in the electronic parking brake (EPB) system. The Forester, Liberty, and Outback were of model year (MY) 2015, while the WRX was of MY 2015–16. Separately, Mercedes-Benz also issued a recall for 7,833 units of its C-Class in Australia. The automaker said the possibility of corrosion on internal components meant the restraint system control unit might fail leading to airbags being deactivated. The recall includes models sold in the country between 1 March 2006 and 31 December 2008.

Significance: Subaru will contact owners of the affected models via mail depending on the availability of the parts. The replacement will be installed at no cost to the consumer. The automaker also recalled the Outback in China over the same issues with the EPB system). Meanwhile, Mercedes-Benz plans to notify owners of the affected vehicles by sending letters. Recently, Hyundai announced a recall of 37,000 units of the i30 in Australia to fix faulty ESC systems.
