Issues with vehicles in North America
Ford has announced safety recalls in North America. The largest impacts certain 2011 to 2012 model year Ford F-150 and 2012 model year Ford Expedition, Mustang and Lincoln Navigator vehicles equipped with the 6R80 transmission and addresses the potential for an issue with the output speed sensor on the vehicle’s transmission lead frame. Under certain conditions, Ford said, the transmission controls could force a temporary downshift into first gear. Depending on vehicle speed, an abrupt speed reduction could cause rear tires to slide or to lock up, which could result in loss of vehicle control. There are 201,900 vehicles affected, with 184,000 in the US and 17,900 in Canada.
