Issues with indicator switches and fuel lines

Malaysian automaker Proton has issued a recall notice for 20,330 units of the Inspira sedan in the country, concerning an issue with the right-turn indicator switches, according to a company press release. The affected models were assembled between 2010 and 2014. The automaker has also recalled 90,000 units of the Exora CPS 1.6 multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) to inspect the fuel line in the powertrain compartment. The affected vehicles were produced between 2009 and 2015. The automaker has urged the owners of the affected vehicles to contact authorised Proton service centres for inspection. The issues will be resolved at no cost.

Significance: The Inspira recall is related to Mitsubishi's recall of 372,916 vehicles in Japan to fix the improperly installed right-turn indicator switches, as Inspira is a rebadged Mitsubishi model and the defective component was supplied by Mitsubishi. The repairs will involve applying grease to the connector terminal portion (two positions) of the affected vehicles. Meanwhile, the Exora recall is a precautionary step by the automaker in order to avoid any incidents.
