NHTSA says Takata airbag inflators have far higher risk of rupture when inflators deploy during `crash

US regulator the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has announced that new test data show that certain Honda and Acura vehicles equipped with the potentially defective Takata airbag inflators have a "far higher" risk of rupture when the inflators deploy during a crash. Laboratory testing has shown rupture rates as high as 50%, the agency said.
