Front-end modules ready to roll

Technology Trends

Front-end modules have evolved considerably over the past few years. In the past, they comprised the cooling system, air-conditioning condenser and headlamps. Bumpers were installed separately. They are now fully equipped systems ready for installation on vehicle assembly lines

Today’s front-end module (FEM) includes a structural frame on which can be installed headlamps, auxiliary lights, engine-cooling and energy-absorption systems, air guides, electronic devices and hood latches, as well as various reservoirs and other components. Some integrate the bumper, while others do not. Each FEM differs according to the automaker’s specifications.
