Automotive data privacy - European regulations and responses

In May 2018 the European Commission will enforce updated and modernized regulations in regards to data privacy for its European Union members. The regulations are stricter than can be found in the United States when it comes to data privacy, but do not constitute a huge obstacle for companies looking to conduct business inside the European Union, including automotive companies. As "big data" continues to get thrown around the automotive market, OEMs and suppliers should take note of the regulations that could play a role in how they utilize and ultimately try to monetize this information.
