NHTSA promises flexibility in self-driving vehicle rules due in July
The NHTSA's decision to allow US states to make their own rules could be problematic for makers of autonomous vehicles. US states issuing rules that are in addition to the rules from the NHTSA could make deployment and sales of these vehicles more difficult, as state-level rules contradict one another and may not be in alignment with vehicle capability.
