Toyota announces $50M MIT & Stanford partnerships in Artificial Intelligence

Toyota Motor Company held a press conference in Palo Alto to announce a $50 million, five year investment partnering with MIT and Stanford, two of the world’s leading academic institutions in the area of Artificial Intelligence (AI). According to Toyota’s Senior Managing Officer Kiyotaka Ise, the sum will be shared equally between the two institutions, led by Professor Daniela Rus at MIT and Professor Fei-Fei Li at Stanford. Leading the effort at Toyota is Dr. Gill Pratt, former program manager at Defence Advanced Research Project Agency (DARPA).
