
Hirschvogel Automotive has announced plans to establish a new plant in San Juan del Río in the state of Querétaro, Mexico, according to a company press release. The plant will produce constant-velocity joints and transmission shafts. The company says the groundbreaking ceremony of the plant will take place in September this year. The company expects the building for machining processes to be ready by March 2017. Subsequently, first sample parts will be produced in April 2017. Installation of the forging machines is scheduled for the end of 2017, with plans to start production of the first forged parts by the beginning of 2018. The company has appointed Stephan Lutzenberger as president and CEO of the new Mexican plant.
Significance: The Hirschvogel Automotive Group manufactures forged steel and aluminium parts for the automotive industry and its system suppliers. The new plant in Mexico forms part of the company’s strategy of global expansion. The plant will help the company supply automotive customers worldwide from a local source. Besides Mexico, the company operates a plant in Ohio in the United States that produces warm and cold forged parts as well as ready-for-assembly components for the US market.
