Velodyne’s president sees strong demand for LiDAR system—report
Automakers’ rising interest in self-driving vehicles to drive demand
Velodyne’s president Mike Jellen expects strong demand for its LiDAR system from automakers for use in self-driving cars. Last week, the US-headquartered company received USD150 million in investment from Ford and Chinese Internet search firm Baidu to support development and production of low-cost LiDAR system for use in automotive applications, including ADAS and autonomous vehicles.
