The fuel injector reduces number of injectors required in vehicles and meets OEMs’ standards

Impco Technologies, an alternative fuel equipment supplier and a division of Westport Fuel Systems, has launched a new GS2 high flow compressed natural gas (CNG) fuel injector which will be made available globally, the company said in a release on 29 August.

This new injector is a cost-effective solution for high flow requirements as its flow capacity can reduce the total number of injectors required, compared to other brands/models used in the same application, the company said.

The fuel injector is built to standards set by original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), and is a high performance ‘Peak and Hold’ injector, compatible with CNG and liquefied natural gas (LNG) in either 12V or 24V systems.

Significance: This new product should help Impco get greater market share in the growing alternate fuel vehicles space. Its advantages are its cost-effective nature and the fact that it reduces the number of injectors required in vehicles. The injector’s compact cartridge style design allows for easy drop-in installation and it can be installed as port injection or throttle body injection, the company said. A side fuel feed and bottom discharge injector configuration allows for simpler port design and greater tolerance to gas contamination, it added. The injector is certified to ECE R110, R10 and ISO 15500 standards.
