Uber-Didi Chuxing deal in China draws antitrust attention

Merger was announced in August

Chinese regulator has initiated a probe into the planned merger of Uber Technologies’ business in China with the local ride-sharing company Didi Chuxing, according to Bloomberg. Shen Danyang, spokesman of the Ministry of Commerce, told reporters last week (2 September) that the ministry’s officials met Didi executive twice after the merger was announced in August, requesting documents and other supporting materials.
