JV likely to begin with plans to develop and produce a battery electric vehicle for Chinese market

German automaker Volkswagen (VW) has now officially formed the basis for a new partnership in China with Chinese automaker Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Company (JAC). A memorandum of understanding (MoU) on electro-mobility has been signed today (7 September) between VW and JAC in Wolfsburg at the VW headquarters in Germany. The companies will now work together to determine the next phase of negotiations to achieve long-term co-operation in the joint development of new energy vehicles (NEVs) in China, the German company says in a statement sent directly to IHS Automotive.
