FCA reaches tentative labour contract agreement with Canada's Unifor union
Strike averted.
Canadian trade union Unifor and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) have reached a tentative labour contract agreement, agreeing a deal only 15 minutes before the deadline for talks to end and a potential strike at the automaker's facilities in Canada. Announcing the deal, Unifor president Jerry Dias said that FCA had agreed to the same pattern of pay and bonuses as was worked out with General Motors (GM) earlier. Although further details are sparse, FCA has committed to spending CAD325 million (USD245 million) to "gut and refurbish" the paint shop at the company's Brampton assembly plant, as well as an unspecified amount to update the Etobicoke casting plant.
