Automakers opposing proposed requirement for manufacturers to generate a year of driverless testing data before applying for an operating permit
Self-driving vehicle rules issued by California for review and comment drew criticism yesterday (19 October) from a consortium representing Ford, Google, Lyft, Uber, and Volvo. David Strickland, head of the Self-Driving Coalition for Safer Streets Lawmakers, reportedly told a hearing on the proposals that California's approach "could greatly delay the benefits that self-driving vehicles can bring to safety and mobility for individuals".
