Government hopes to accelerate commercialisation of the technology by 2020

The Japanese government will begin testing automated driving vehicles on public roads and highways in Tokyo from September 2017 until March 2019, reports the Japan Times, citing Science and Technology Minister Yosuke Tsuruho. The government will invite foreign and domestic automakers to participate in the project, along with domestic automobile parts manufacturers and universities.
