Guangzhou Motor Show 2016: SUV craze continues, automakers reveal NEV concepts for China

News
New Product Development

Automakers are showing off new energy vehicle concepts for the Chinese market at this year's Guangzhou Motor Show, highlighting their allegiance to the government drive for electrification, while also launching more gasoline-powered sport utility vehicles (SUVs) to maintain sales growth as the popularity of SUVs continues in China.

Automakers need to adhere to two trends to be major players in China's market: one set by market forces and the other set by the government. As demand for sport utility vehicles (SUVs) continues to grow, automakers are rapidly expanding their line-ups to incorporate yet more SUVs, while also highlighting that they are doing their utmost to comply with the government's policy of making China a global leader in new energy vehicle (NEV) technology.
