FCA finalises USD266.5 million EIB loan for research and development; hybrid minivan goes into production
Three-year loan from EIB will support FCA R&D from 2017 to 2019
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) and the European Investment Bank (EIB) have announced the finalisation of a EUR250-million (USD266.5-million) three-year loan, to support FCA R&D from 2017 to 2019. The R&D objectives are "greater efficiency, a reduction in CO2 emissions by petrol [gasoline] and alternative fuel engines, and the study of new hybrid architectures," according to the company statement. Some of the loan will be used for facilities in southern Italy and owned by FCA subsidiary Magneti Marelli, the statement notes.
