Japanese automaker introduced ‘Smart Assist’ technology four years ago

Late last month, Daihatsu unveiled the next-generation crash-avoidance systems called Smart Assist III, the small car unit of Toyota said in a press release on 30 November. According to the automaker, the new system features a compact stereo camera mounted on the upper part of the vehicle’s windshield, a crash avoidance braking function for pedestrians as well as vehicles, and an expanded vehicle speed range in which the vehicle is activated.
