HERE supplies HD map data to PSA Group for testing autonomous vehicles

Mapping company deploys Lidar technology to collect billions of 3D points, and models road surfaces down to the number of lanes and width

HERE is providing PSA Group with high-definition (HD) map data, which the French automaker will use for testing its highly automated vehicles, the Germany-based mapping specialist said in a press release on 13 December. “Precise digital maps are a key component for highly automated and ultimately autonomous driving,” said Bruno Bourguet, senior vice-president of sales and business development at HERE. “At HERE, we have the expertise and experience to help our customers advance their efforts to develop this crucial technology,” Bourguet said.
