Toyota announces global sales and production plan for 2017

Company intends to establish internal compact car company with Daihatsu

Toyota Motor Corporation, including its subsidiaries Daihatsu Motor Company Limited and Hino Motors Limited, is projecting global group sales of 10,202,000 units in 2017 (all calendar-year figures unless otherwise stated), according to a company statement issued today (15 December). The figure would represent flat sales compared with the projected total of 10,091,000 units this year. Total sales in Japan by Toyota and its subsidiaries are expected at 2,234,000 units next year, up 1.0% year on year (y/y). Similarly, total overseas sales are projected to grow by 1.0% y/y to 7,979,000 units. Total global sales of Toyota-brand vehicles (including Lexus and Scion) are expected to remain flat at 9,260,000 units, split between 1,600,000 units in the domestic market (up 2.0% y/y) and overseas sales of 7,670,000 units (up 1.0% y/y).
