Volvo sells XC90 SUV to Uber, which installs its self-driving hardware and software
Volvo and Uber released a statement on 14 December announcing an expansion of their self-driving ride-sharing pilot from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to San Francisco, California, United States. The project leverages Volvo's XC90 sport utility vehicle (SUV) equipped with Uber's self-driving technology – Volvo sells the cars to Uber, which installs its self-driving hardware and software. As in the Pennsylvania programme, Volvo has built the vehicles and sold them to Uber for use in the San Francisco programme.
