Uber aims to turnaround Indian operations ‘soon’, partners with taxi operator in Indonesia
Company faces stiff competition from local rival Ola in the Indian market
Ride-sharing company Uber aims to make profits in India, its biggest market after the United States in terms of the number of cities in which it operates, Nikkei reported on Monday (19 December). “At present we are loss-making here [in India], but profitability is in sight and we hope to get there soon,” Travis Kalanick, co-founder and chief executive of Uber, was quoted as saying at an event last week. The ride-sharing company is facing stiff competition in India from local rival Ola.
