BMW, McLaren to team up for new engine technology
Collaboration to begin with a project partially funded by British government
BMW and McLaren have joined hands to develop new combustion technology for future engines, Autocar reported on 31 January. Initially, the two automakers will be involved in a project which is partially funded by British government under Advanced Propulsion Center (APC) — a government-funded operation. The project will also include Ricardo (McLaren’s engine manufacturing partner), the University of Bath (sharing its advanced combustion research and development methods), Grainger and Worrall (which will bring in its complex, lightweight casting technology) and Lentus Composites (a composite structure specialist).
