New bill plans to levy a 2% tax on ride

On Monday (6 February), the New York State Senate passed a bill which could make operations of ride-hailing services outside New York City legal, according to The Wall Street Journal (WSJ). The bill was approved in the Senate by 53-5. It now needs to be cleared by the state Assembly where a similar bill got stalled last year.
