Groupe PSA, General Motors (GM) confirm exploration of strategic initiatives, including Opel/Vauxhall sale
PSA and GM relationship emerged in 2012
Groupe PSA and General Motors (GM) confirmed yesterday (14 February) in separate but similar statements that they are in discussions over a range of strategic initiatives in Europe. PSA said that, building on a relationship with GM established in 2012 through which they have developed three projects in Europe and generated substantial synergies for the two OEMs, the pair "regularly examine additional expansion and cooperation possibilities". It now "confirms that, together with General Motors, it is exploring numerous strategic initiatives aiming at improving its profitability and operational efficiency, including a potential acquisition of Opel." However, it added that "there can be no assurance that an agreement will be reached."
