Court ruling could result in increase in Uber charges in Australia

A federal court in Sydney (Australia) has classified Uber’s ride-sharing service as “taxi services”, when it comes to paying tax, according to media reports in Australia. The court ruling means Uber’s driver partners will now have to pay goods and services tax (GST) of 10% like other cab drivers. “We are reviewing the decision and will provide our driver-partners with more information as soon as we can," ABC News reported a Uber spokeswoman as saying.
