Otto’s acquisition of Tyto Lidar could help defend against Waymo’s lawsuit – report
Otto acquired Tyto in May 2016
Otto, the self-driving truck unit of Uber, surreptitiously acquired Tyto Lidar, a company specializing in Lidar technology for use in autonomous car, in 2016, Reuters reported on 1 March. The LinkedIn profile of Brent Schwarz, CEO and co-founder of Tyto, shows that the company became a part of Otto in May 2016. The acquisition provided Otto access to Tyto’s patent in Lidar scanner, which was filed in 2013, according to the US Patent & Trademark Office.
