SKF to expand spherical roller bearing production capacity in Malaysia
Expansion to be operational by the end of 2017
Bearing manufacturer SKF will invest SEK 45 million (USD5.06 million as of 31 March 2017) to expand its spherical roller bearing (SRB) capacity in Nilai, Malaysia, according to a company press release on 30 March. The investment is in line with the company’s strategy to further enhance plant utilization. Post expansion, the SRB facility is expected to become fully operational by the end of this year. Luc Graux, president, bearing operations SKF, said, “The new channel will include the latest in internally developed solutions for automatic pairing of rings and bearing traceability. It will also be scalable, should we decide to make future investments in automated assembly processes, similar to those already operational in Gothenburg.”
