Volkswagen Group China joins forces with Mobvoi for AI technologies in cars
German automaker to invest USD180 million in JV and further growth of Chinese partner
The Volkswagen Group has entered a strategic agreement with Mobvoi, a Chinese start-up specializing in artificial intelligence (AI), the companies said in a press release yesterday. Under the agreement, the two partners will form a 50:50 joint-venture (JV) to develop and implement AI technology for use in future vehicles. The JV will leverage Mobvoi’s expertise in voice recognition, natural language processing technologies, vertical and proactive searches. VW has committed to invest USD180 million into the JV activities and further growth of the Chinese partner.
