Company urges major suppliers to use their scale to cooperate on technology standardization and cost competitiveness

Honda is planning to expand the number of common auto parts that can go into multiple models, Nikkei reported on 5 April. The Japanese automaker apprised more than 300 suppliers of its plan in an information session held in Tokyo, Japan, on Tuesday (4 April), while explaining its purchasing policy for the first time in eight years. Honda also asked its suppliers to develop components on time for its next-generation Civic, expected to be launched in 2020.
