US automaker is working on autonomous driving technology to be deployed in ride-sharing vehicles

Cruise Automation, a self-driving car start-up acquired by GM in 2016 for USD580 million, is planning to add over 1,100 jobs in San Francisco, California (United States) over the next four years, Forbes reported on 4 April. According to California’s business and development office, Cruise Automation plans to invest USD14 million to expand operations in San Francisco and add 1,163 full-time employees. The planned expansion will result in a sharp increase in the number of people GM employs in California to 1,648 by 2021, from 485 currently.
