FCA India unveils Jeep Compass, production scheduled for June
FCA plans to make India its production base for supplying the vehicle to all right-hand-drive (RHD) markets.
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) has unveiled specifications of its Compass sport utility vehicle (SUV) in India. The vehicle will be offered with a choice of diesel or petrol (gasoline) engine, the automaker stated at an event at its Ranjangaon plant, near Pune in Maharashtra. The 2.0-litre diesel engine can produce 170 hp and 350 Nm, according to Autocar India. This engine will be mated to a 6-speed manual transmission, although an automatic may later be added. Also on offer will be a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine capable of generating 160 hp and 250 Nm. The engine will be made available with a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT).
