Headliner technology for automotive interiors
The contribution to technology has had an impact on the way headliners are designed, perceived and manufactured in recent times
Technology has been a prominent game-changer when we look at the present automotive interior landscape. Its receptiveness from interior suppliers and OEMs has led to new and innovative cabin setups that require components to perform more than their basic tasks. For instance, when headliners were first introduced in cars, their objective was to simply cover the sheet metal roof structure, only contributing towards interior aesthetics. However, the contribution to technology has had an impact on the way headliners are designed, perceived and manufactured in recent times. More content – in the form of electronics and safety – is being supplied into headliners, which has opened up opportunities for new age materials to be applied in the manufacture of headliners, as automakers are also looking at shedding weight along with catering to eco-friendly production ways.
