Germany approves law for self-driving cars
Law requires all time presence of drivers behind steering wheel and mandatory fitment of self-driving vehicles with black-box
The upper house of the German parliament approved a law on Friday (12 May) that will pave the way for testing of self-driving cars on public roads in Germany, Reuters reported last week. The law requires mandatory presence of a driver behind the wheel at all times ready to take control of the vehicle if prompted to do so by the self-driving vehicle. However, the driver will be allowed to take hands off the steering wheel and eyes off the road when the vehicle is in self-driving mode.
