SoftBank plans to raise stake in NVIDIA – report
Japan-based technology investment firm owns 4.9% in US-based graphic chipmaker
SoftBank is considering acquiring additional stake in the US-based chipmaker NVIDIA, Bloomberg reported last month citing people familiar with the development. The Japanese company recently listed NVIDIA among the companies where it had made investment, without providing further details. However, reports suggest that SoftBank has quietly amassed USD4 billion worth of shares in NVIDIA, giving it 4.9% shareholding, and making fourth largest shareholder in the chipmaker. The 4.9% stake is just shy of the threshold that would require regulatory disclosures in the United States.
