China to allow foreign automakers to form JV to produce EVs – report
Foreign automakers will have a maximum of 50% equity stake in such JVs
China will allow foreign automakers to form joint-ventures (JVs) with local companies to produce new energy vehicles (NEVs), Automotive New China reported today (4 July). According to revised directives on foreign investment released by China’s Ministry of Commerce last week, such JVs will be restricted to produce battery-powered electric vehicles (EVs). Further, the foreign automakers will be allowed to own a maximum of 50% equity stake in such JVs.
