Chinese firm expects first self-driving car using Apollo platform next year

Baidu is partnering with more than 50 companies for its Apollo self-driving car project, Bloomberg reported on 5 July. The partners include automakers, suppliers, start-ups, universities and local governments, which will use the Chinese internet firm’s Apollo platform for their autonomous driving projects. Baidu developed Apollo project at its Silicon Valley tech center in California, the United States. The company aims to launch a self-driving car using the Apollo platform by 2018 with mass production scheduled to begin three years later.
