Ford will file a petition to avoid recall of 2.5 million vehicles equipped with Takata airbag inflators in the United States, Reuters reported on 21 July. John Cangany, a spokesman at the US automaker, said the company would file a petition requesting “to continue testing and analyzing our inflators.” The petition is seeking exemption from recall as Ford believes the issue is inconsequential.
