Automaker to reduce R&D costs and jointly develop new production platform with Porsche to generate savings

Audi aims to reduce costs by EUR10 billion (USD11.8 billion) by 2022 to fund its vehicle electrification drive, Reuters reported today (31 July) citing sources close to the German automaker. The premium car unit of the Volkswagen (VW) Group plans to launch four pure-electric models in coming years, beginning with e-tron sport-utility vehicle (SUV) with a range of 310 miles (500 kilometers). Audi will begin production of the all-new electric SUV in Belgium next year.
