First cross-border testing of autonomous vehicles in North America

On Monday (31 July), first cross-border test of autonomous vehicles in North America was conducted when self-driving cars drove from Michigan in the United States to Ontario in Canada, according to a press release by Ministry of Transportation, Ontario on 31 July. The test drive began from downtown Detroit in Michigan in a Cadillac ATS and a Chrysler 300, both modified with SAE Level 3 self-driving technologies from Magna and Continental respectively. The engineers in the two test vehicles drove through the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel under the Detroit River, through Ontario to the Blue Water Bridge and crossed back into the US at Port Huron and continued to Traverse City, in Michigan.
