Volkswagen (VW), SAIC to jointly produce 1.4L turbocharged gasoline engines in China
SAIC-Volkswagen will invest USD55 million to prepare Shanghai plant to produce engines
The Volkswagen Group (VW) plans to begin local production of 1.4L turbocharged gasoline engines at a powertrain plant operated by SAIC-Volkswagen Automotive, its joint venture with SAIC Motor, in Shanghai (China), Automotive News China reported on 18 August, citing the environment protection agency of Shanghai city government as source. SAIC-Volkswagen will invest CNY367 million (USD55 million) to renovate the powertrain plant.
