Ford expands 2021 self-driving ride-share goal to include delivery services
Last year the US automaker set target to make available SAE Level 4 self-driving cars for ride-sharing by 2021
Ford is expanding the potential use of its self-driving vehicles, due in 2021, beyond ride-sharing services, Forbes reported on 22 August citing an interview with a senior executive of the company. Apart from ride-sharing, the US automaker plans to use its self-driving cars in autonomous commercial delivery services. “To build the business, we’re focusing on goods and people. We see opportunity in both,” Sherif Marakby, vice president for autonomous and electric vehicles at Ford was quoted saying by Forbes. “We're planning both commercial operation and the ride-hailing service in 2021,” Markby said.
