IAA 2017: Audi to showcase Level 3 to 5 autonomous driving solutions
Automaker plans to launch Audi 8 with AI traffic jam pilot system selectively after taking into account regulatory environment of the target market
Audi will showcase its progress in autonomous driving at the International Motor Show (IAA) 2017 in Frankfurt (Germany) this week, the automaker said in a press release on 8 September. The automaker will display an all-new A8 sedan capable of offering SAI Level 3 autonomy as standard, thanks to the Audi AI (artificial intelligence) ‘traffic jam pilot’, which allows the vehicle to take over the driving task in slow moving traffic up to 60 kilometer per hour (kph) on highways or multi-lane motorway with divider. The traffic jam pilot handles key functions of accelerating, steering and braking without any input from driver.
