Acquisition complements BASF’s engineering plastics portfolio; to provide better access to key growth markets in Asia and South America

German chemical company BASF has signed an agreement to acquire the global integrated polyamide business of Belgian chemicals company Solvay for EUR1.6 billion (USD1.9 billion) on a cash and debt-free basis, the two companies announced in separate press releases on 19 September.
