Toyota ends vehicle manufacturing in Australia
Japanese automaker had announced plans to end vehicle production in the country over three years ago
Toyota has formally ended vehicle manufacturing in Australia today (3 October), the Japanese automaker said in a press release. The company’s Australian subsidiary, Toyota Motor Corporation Australia Ltd, held a closing ceremony at its Altona plant in Melbourne, marking the end of 54 years of manufacturing operations in the country. The move by the Japanese automaker resulted in a loss of around 2,500 jobs.
