Daimler tests truck platooning on US highways

Automaker leveraging its experience in connectivity and automated driving to digitally connect trucks

Daimler Truck North America (DTNA), the US-based commercial vehicle subsidiary of the Daimler Group, is testing truck platooning on public roads in the United States, the German automaker said in a press release last week. DTNA received permission from the Oregon Department of Transportation to test trucks on the state’s public roads after running successful trials of the truck platooning concept at its proving ground in Madras, Oregon. The company also hopes to test trucks on select public roads in Nevada.
