Automaker is investing USD469 million in first phase of expansion

BMW is expanding its FIZ Research and Innovation Center in Munich, (Germany), the automaker said in a press release last week. The expansion, which is a part of ‘FIZ Future’ masterplan, will expand the development center by around 50% by 2050. The German automaker is investing EUR400 million (USD469 million) in the first phase of the construction to create infrastructure for developing future mobility solutions. BMW has started construction work of a building complex with a total floor area of 157,000 meter square. The new building will become operational in 2019 and house around 5,000 employees developing hardware and software for the automaker’s future vehicles.
