Japanese supplier plans to commercialize new radar in 2020

Hitachi Automotive Systems has developed a long-range, forward facing 77GHz millimeter-wave radar for use in autonomous driving vehicles, the Japanese supplier said in a press release last week. The company claims the new radar to be the smallest in its class in the world, measuring 30 millimeter (mm) in depth, 60 mm in height and 45 mm in width. The Japanese supplier will showcase the new radar at the 45th Tokyo Motor Show, scheduled later this month.
