Partnership will leverage Denso’s experience in cabin sensing technologies and FotoNation’s expertise in advanced facial recognition and neural network

Denso has entered a partnership with US-based Xperi Corporation to jointly develop cabin sensing technology with FotoNation, a company of the Xperi group specializing in image recognition technology, the Japanese supplier said in a press release on 17 October. The partnership will help Denso improve performance of its ‘Driver Status Monitor’ system, currently used in commercial vehicles. It will allow the Japanese supplier to combine its experience in cabin sensing technologies with FotoNation’s expertise in advanced facial recognition and neural network to develop a highly advanced driver status detection, which will not be affected by difference between individual faces, or by sunglasses, masks or other facial coverings.
